I have been doing quite well in my learning. My favourite subject this year and right now is maths. I think I have really improved in it. I have learnt to do fractions and area. Also I am so happy to be apart of some of the community projects.
I think I need to do more of being an active learner because a I get off task a lot.
I am a student at Ōtaki College in Ōtaki, NZ. My blog is a place where I will be able to share some of my learning. Please note....some work won't be edited - they are just my first drafts, so there may be some errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas on my posts.

Environmental Issues
This term we have done environmental issues, I have learnt quite a bit from it. Like air pollution an sometimes kill you in some countries. Plastic pollution is getting worse and when the plastic is in the water it lets out toxic chemicals that can harm the marine life.

Daffodil Day DHT
Daffodil day started in 1990, this iconic event has inspired people to come together and support the Cancer Society's work. As well as providing an opportunity to raise awareness of cancer in New Zealand.
Daffodil day is a very special day. Especially for people who have cancer or a loved one does. I'm sure everyone knows someone with cancer. Most people wear yellow for daffodil day to show honour to loved ones. For instance my school, Otaki college, are having a yellow mufti day and a bake sale. This is to raise money to donate to the cancer society.
I had an aunt that was battling cancer. unfortunately she lost her life. 12 august 1971-23 June 2018 she was quite young. It was really heart breaking for me and my family. I wear yellow for her. I think that its really great that we have daffodil day.

Plastic pollution
As you may know plastic is taking over our world and hurting our animals and environment. Plastic is very harmful not only to nature but to humans and animals. Our plastic is not compostable and it just goes to landfill and that is not ok. We should all help and stop using single use plastic.
I am going to be doing a slide about single use plastic and plastic pollution. I think that plastic is so dangerous and that all animals need to be helped. You know what make me feel bad is that we are the ones making all the animals in danger.
The one that is the most harmful for the sea creatures (not that all plastics aren't harmful) is plastic bags. Sea creature mistake it for food like jellyfish or they get tangled in it and suffocate.
So as you can see plastic is very harmful I hope you will help and save the Earth.
