Daffodil day started in 1990, this iconic event has inspired people to come together and support the Cancer Society's work. As well as providing an opportunity to raise awareness of cancer in New Zealand.
Daffodil day is a very special day. Especially for people who have cancer or a loved one does. I'm sure everyone knows someone with cancer. Most people wear yellow for daffodil day to show honour to loved ones. For instance my school, Otaki college, are having a yellow mufti day and a bake sale. This is to raise money to donate to the cancer society.
I had an aunt that was battling cancer. unfortunately she lost her life. 12 august 1971-23 June 2018 she was quite young. It was really heart breaking for me and my family. I wear yellow for her. I think that its really great that we have daffodil day.
